Songkick has over 100,000 gigs in its database

by cmumusicnews 22. February 2010 11:33

Gig listings and concert retrospective website Songkick says it is now the biggest resource for live music information on the web, with over 100,000 listings for upcoming live music events worldwide currently in its online database, which does sound like rather a lot.

The site takes listings from Ticketmaster and an assortment of other listings media around the world, and allows fans to input information so to capture smaller events too. They are now making their content available to other websites via an open API thingy.

Commenting on his site's achievements, and the open API thingy, Songkick CEO Ian Hogarth is quoted by Music Week as saying the following words, in this very order: "Live music continues to grow, and we aim to be at the heart of every music service or website that wants to engage with concert-goers - whether that's by selling tickets for events, or simply alerting their community to cool gigs in their local area. We've got a solid foundation from which to do this now".
