George Michael has revealed he checked himself into rehab shortly after that incident where he drove his range rover into a branch of Snappy Snaps in London while under the influence of drugs. As previously reported, the singer pleaded guilty to charges of cannabis possession and DUI in relation to that incident last week.
The self-confessed habitual user of soft drugs says he underwent a fourteen day detox programme at a rehab facility after the Snappy Snaps crash, and continues to participate in an outpatients programme which includes several drug counselling sessions each week.
Michael revealed his rehab efforts in a posting on his website following the aforementioned court hearing. He wrote: "I want to thank you all sincerely, and also to reassure those of you who worry so much for me. I fully appreciate the seriousness of my current situation, for which I truly apologise".
He continued: "I feel you should know that on the day after the incident I checked in to a clinic for a fourteen day detox programme here in London, which has been followed by ongoing outpatient drug counselling several times a week. Personal problems which I had tried to deal with myself had clearly got the better of me, and I am sorry that my pride has prevented me from seeking help before now".
Michael will be sentenced in relation to the DUI incident on 14 Sep. The judge overseeing the case has warned the singer he could face jail time.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool frontman Charles Haddon committed suicide at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium last week. He was 22.
The news was confirmed by Eddy Temple-Morris during his Xfm show on Friday night. As rumours of Haddon's death began to fly on Twitter, Temple-Morris sent a text message to the band's Joe Hutchinson, hoping to put an end to a hoax, but received the reply: "He killed himself early this evening after playing the best gig of his life to 5000 people".
An official statement published on the band's MySpace page the following day officially confirmed the news to fans, saying: "We are all so deeply saddened to confirm that our friend Charlie Haddon passed away yesterday, Friday 20 Aug".
According to reports, after the band's Friday afternoon performance, Haddon jumped from a satellite communications mast in the artists' parking area of the festival.
A statement on the Pukkelpop website reads: "After performing with his band Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, singer Charles Haddon decided to take his own life. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends".
Ou Est Le Swimming Pool formed in 2009 in Camden and have released three singles to date, including their popular debut 'Dance The Way I Feel'. Following a number of festival dates and an Australian tour, the band were due to release their debut album, 'The Golden Years', and tour the UK in October. You can read CMU's Same Six Questions interview with Charles Haddon here.
Former frontman of 80s band The Call, Michael Been, also died at the festival. The father of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club frontman Robert Levon Been and a sound engineer for the band, he died after suffering a heart attack at the festival on Thursday.
The Call formed in 1980 and released eight albums between 1982 and 2000, before going on hiatus. Been also released a solo album in 1994 and appeared in a number of films, including Martin Scorsese's 'The Last Temptation Of Christ'.

A man jumped to his death onto the stage at a Swell Season concert last Thursday in an apparent suicide.
The band, formed by frontman of The Frames Glen Hansard and Czech pianist Marketa Irglova, were performing at the Mountain Winery amphitheatre in Saratoga, California. According to witnesses, the man - named on Friday by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office as 32 year old Michael Pickels from San Jose - climbed up onto the roof of the stage as the band were finishing a song. He then ran, jumped and fell around 30 feet to the stage, landing near Hansard.
One witness told SF Weekly: "Glen was joking about his new guitar player, poking fun at one of his songs, when a body shot down from above and slammed downstage left. The guy fell like a dead weight, not flailing, not screaming, just hitting the stage hard and bouncing from the impact. Even Glen didn't know what it was until he stood over it and realised a man had just launched himself from the top of the stone church-like building at the back of the stage".
Attempts were made to resuscitate Pickels, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards by a doctor who had been in the audience.
In a statement, the band expressed sadness for the death, but said they would continue their current US tour as planned: "The band, crew and all involved with them are shocked and saddened by the death that occurred at the 19 Aug show. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased, his family and friends. Making and performing music is what the band has always done in good times and in bad. Our hope is that in this communal experience tonight [20 Aug] we can somehow help our own grieving process after what we just witnessed. The show will most certainly be different than any other we have ever played".
The statement added: "We wish to continue to be sensitive to family and friends of this individual and hope that in performing it is not viewed as a selfish act. We have not come to this decision lightly. We continue to have them at the forefront of our minds and hearts".

Sum 41 have pulled out of this year's Vans Warped Tour of the US in order for frontman Deryck Whibley to recover from a slipped disc sustained when he was attacked in a bar in Japan earlier this month.
As previously reported, Sum 41 performed at Japan's Summersonic festival last weekend despite doctors advising Whibley to rest. Having initially ignored doctor's orders, it seems he and the band have realised that they can't continue without their frontman having a little recovery break. In a statement, the band said: "Knowing that they are unable to deliver their signature high-energy show, Sum 41 made the tough decision that a break is needed while Deryck begins rehabilitation for the slipped disc".
Drummer Steve Jocz told People: "[We] are very disappointed that we have to pull off the tour. [But] we know that it would be more frustrating for the fans if we can't give it our all. Deryck is doing everything he can to get himself better, and we're there for him".
It's not clear how long it will be before Sum 41 return to the stage - they are due to appear in the UK on the Eastpak Antidote Tour in October.

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley performed a gig this weekend despite doctors advising him to rest after he was assaulted during a pub brawl in Japan last week.
He received treatment for a slipped disc after being set on by three men in a bar, he still took to the stage at Japan's Summersonic festival. A statement from the band said: "Despite doctor's instructions, he has decided to play today's show at Summersonic regardless".
Japanese authorities are reportedly investigating the attack.

Having worked closely with Massive Attack for the last fifteen years, producing their 1998 album 'Mezzanine', Neil Davidge is now branching out on his own for his first solo album, for which he is seeking collaborators
Davidge told CMU: "The type of singer or writer I am looking for on this project needs to have the unique qualities of Nina Simone, Liz Fraser, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, PJ Harvey, Joanna Newsom, KD Lang, Kate Bush, or Nick Drake. I am really excited about my debut album just as much as when I started with Massive Attack on the 'Mezzanine' album, we're already talking to some really talented artists but I am also looking forward to finding and working with new talent"

Eminem has said that doctors in America are far too willing to hand out prescription drugs to celebrities.
Speaking to Vibe, the rapper said: "Famous people. Famous people are overdosing at alarming rates and - that almost sounded like a commercial. Wow. But they are. And it's one of those things, man. When you're famous, doctors will kiss your ass because they love the celebrity. 'Oh, I can call up Eminem and get him on the phone right now. Oh, hi Marshall, how are you doing? Do you need that [prescription]?' There are doctors that will give you certain things just because of who you are".
As previously reported, in related news, seven doctors last week escaped charges of negligence in relation to drugs made available to Michael Jackson in the years leading up to his death. The singer's personal physician Dr Conrad Murray still faces charges of involuntary manslaughter after allegedly providing Jackson with a lethal dose of the anaesthetic propofol as a cure for insomnia, which caused his death.

Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, has been forced to cancel a number of upcoming shows after collapsing on stage in Washington DC on Saturday night.
A statement issued by the producer and DJ's management reads: "Last night, whilst performing onstage at the 9:30 club in Washington DC, Deadmau5 collapsed, suffering exhaustion and vomiting. Medics at the venue took him directly to hospital where he is now under supervision. Deadmau5 is sad to advise his fans that on the strict advice of the doctors, he now has no choice but to cancel the next nine shows of his summer tour schedule to allow for his recovery".
No UK shows are affected, and Deadmau5 is still expected to play Creamfields on 28 Aug.

Smashing Pumpkin man Billy Corgan collapsed on stage during a gig in Florida last week, though he isn't entirely sure what caused him to black out. After falling over during the show, Corgan tweeted later that night: "That wasn't a stage move or clumsiness; that was me blacking out and wiping out", before adding: "I have no memory of falling against the drum riser and my guitar cabinet, but I can tell you I've got quite a good bruise [and] am moving slow".

La Roux have cancelled a number of US tour dates because Girl-Roux Elly Jackson is ill.

We are endeavouring to reschedule as many of the cancelled shows for November as possible. An announcement will be made shortly".

Cheryl Cole has lost seven pounds after suffering from that bout of malaria, or so says the News Of The World, which reported yesterday that the Girl Aloud's weight had dropped to a "worrying 98 pounds" as a result of the disease.
They quote a source: "Cheryl is far too thin. She was seven and a half stone to eight stone before but she doesn't have any meat on her now. Her hip bones literally stick out. She won't be dancing for some time. Her routines were exhausting. Cheryl understands that she now has to follow medical advice. Her ridiculously busy work routine is off so there's time for her to focus on getting healthy and putting the weight back on".
As previously reported, Cole will not take part in the boot camp component of the next series of 'The X-Factor' while she recovers from her illness. She hopes to be well enough to return for the live shows in the autumn.

Pink was rushed to hospital last night after she crashed through onstage barricades during a high wire routine at a concert in Nuremberg, Germany. Seemingly she wasn't properly clipped into her harness before being pulled up above her stage, resulting in a dramatic tumble.
However, it seems she wasn't too badly injured, if her subsequent live tweeting from the ambulance is anything to go by, though it's possible the pain killers were having an impact on her typing skills.
She tweeted: "to all my nurnberg fans- I am so so so sorry to end the show that way.I am embarassed and very sorry. I'm in ambulance now but I will b fine". She then explained "didn't get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade. Getting xrays.I hope it at least looked cool!!!"
After some hospital tests she concluded: "Ok all my lovers out there- nothings broken, no fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!! Thanx nurnberg:("

Pete Doherty is out of hospital. Or very possibly never went there. As reported on Friday, Doherty pulled out of a gig in Nice last minute on Thursday last week, with the Babyshambler's people reportedly giving the excuse that the singer had been hospitalised.
But Le Parisien is reporting that, while the singer did visit a clinic in Paris during the day on Thursday, he wasn't actually hospitalised, and instead of playing his scheduled gig in Nice on Thursday spent the evening with friends in the French capital. Either way, Doherty was well enough to join his band at the French Festival Terres de Son in Monts on Friday, and subsequently at T In The Park this weekend.
At the latter, the Babyshambles boys got a bit pissed off when some crowd members started throwing bottles in the general direction of the stage, so much so guitar man Mick Whitnall at one point suggested to the T audience: "Next person who throws a bottle, beat the fuck out of them, I dare you!"

Cheryl Cole has pulled out of a V Festival appearance and the whole 'boot camp' stage of the next series of 'The X-Factor' to give her time to recover from her previously reported bout of malaria.
According to a spokeswoman, Cole is "making good progress" after being diagnosed with the disease at the start of the last week, but has been advised to rest in the coming months. It was initially thought the Girl Aloud was suffering from exhaustion when she collapsed at a photo shoot last weekend, but it was subsequently discovered she was suffering from malaria, which she seemingly picked up while in Tanzania recently. The singer left intensive care on Friday and subsequently checked into a private clinic to fully recover.
A spokesman for 'X-Factor' confirmed this weekend that Cole would be absent from the boot camp stage of the next series of the talent show, which is currently being recorded. Said spokesman told reporters: "Our priority is to ensure Cheryl is fit and well before she returns to work and to give our contestants a fair and proper opportunity to compete in the show".
It is not clear if a guest judge will now take part in the boot camp component of this year's 'X-Factor'. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger joined the judging panel at a recording in Manchester this weekend, though she was technically filling in for Dannii Minogue rather than Cole. Minogue, who gave birth to her first child last week, has sat out the audition stage of this series of the show because of her pregnancy, but is due to return for boot camp.

Pete Doherty was hospitalised in France yesterday, according to reports. The Babyshambler was due to play a gig in Nice, but the show was cancelled at the last minute. No official reason for the cancellation was given - promoters simply said the show would be rescheduled - but WENN are reporting the singer was taken ill before the concert.
What caused the hospitalisation isn't known, though obviously there are already rumours of something drug related.
Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone has been released from hospital, but remains in a serious condition. He is due to undergo a second round of brain surgery later this month.
As previously reported, Leone was savagely attacked last week after he attempted to intervene when he witnessed a man beating a woman, seemingly the attacker's wife, in a street near his home in Chicago. The attacker then turned on Leone instead, beating him so badly he has subsequently had to have a third of his skull removed to relieve the pressure on his swollen brain.
Writing on his blog, Madina Lake frontman and Matthew's brother Nathan Leone said: "We finally convinced the doctors to let me take Matthew home. He was going nuts in the hospital and they agreed that he would benefit from a more comfortable environment. The only goal at this point is get him strong enough for his second brain surgery, which is scheduled for 16 Jul ... We know from the doctors that his future prognosis remains guarded since the permanency of the physical and neuropsychological damage is yet unknown".
As previously reported, Matthew currently has no medical insurance. Donations to help with the considerable costs related to his injuries are being collected via Pledge Music: www.pledgemusic.com/projects/madinalake

According to reports, Cheryl Cole did not collapse at a photo shoot this weekend simply because of exhaustion, but, rather, because she is suffering from malaria.
A source has told the Daily Mail that Cole's condition worsened after the photo shoot incident on Saturday and the Girl Aloud and 'X-Factor' judge was admitted to hospital. There tests have, said sources claim, showed the singer was suffering from malaria, which it is thought she must have contracted while holidaying in Tanzania recently.
The Mail quote their source as follows: "Cheryl hadn't been feeling herself for about a week [after returning from Tanzania]. She was feeling tired and listless. In the end, this must have been the beginnings of the virus. During Sunday afternoon, Cheryl went downhill quickly. She was sweating and shaking and in a bad way".
The official statement on Cole's health from her PR rep yesterday simply said: "Following doctor's advice Cheryl Cole will be cancelling all work commitments for the next week. No further comment".
Cole is expected to stay in hospital to recover for several days, and may need several weeks to fully recover. This may mean the singer will have to pull out of many of the audition shows for the next series of 'X-Factor'; producers of the programme have already been told to make other arrangements for the next block of filming.
One assumes Simon Cowell is feeling rather bad at the moment, given that at an 'X-Factor' recording last week he put Cole's fragility down to a hangover, and warned the audience she might be extra "sulky" because she'd been partying the previous day.

An online fund has been set up to help pay the hospital fees of Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone who, as previously reported, is seriously ill after attempting to stop a man from beating up a woman in the street last week.
The attacker was beating up his own wife when Leone tried to intervene. The man then turned on Leone, beating the musician to a pulp before both he and his other half fled the scene. Leone needed a third of his skull to be removed in order to survive the injuries resulting from the beating.
Although Leone is now starting to recover from the incident, neither he nor his family have health insurance and the bill for the bass player's treatment is likely to be significant. An online campaign, supported by Pledge Music (who helped the band raise money earlier in the year to fund a new EP), has been set up to raise the cash needed.
Matthew's brother Nathan, also Madina Lake's frontman, wrote this weekend: "On behalf of Matthew, myself, our family and our extended ML family, we are absolutely floored by the compassion, love and support shown from people around the world. We've never experienced anything like it and to be honest, we're not even sure what we could say that would accurately express our gratitude and appreciation. I'll be posting a comprehensive update on Matthew's condition, prognosis and plans for the immediate future shortly".
He continued: "For now, many have so graciously inquired as to where any donations can be made to assist with medical expenses, etc (unfortunately, Matthew's health insurance expired a few months ago while we were on tour in Europe). Our management has helped organise a few options, should anyone feel they want to donate. We simply can't thank you enough for your generosity, compassion, love and amazing energy that has all been an integral part of Matthew's recovery. More soon, all the love in the world".
There is information on how to donate at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/madinalake
Cheryl Cole has pulled out of 'The X-Factor' until further notice after collapsing from exhaustion during a photo shoot this weekend.
Reports suggest Cole was feeling ill before attending the photo session on Saturday, but nevertheless stuck to the appointment. According to The Sun, she fainted midway through, and was subsequently diagnosed as suffering from gastroenteritis and told to rest at home for at least a week, and to then only slowly return to work. Sources say that Cole has been working eighteen hour days since splitting from husband Ashley, and it seems her illness is probably the result of over work.
Work is already underway on the next series of 'The X-Factor', and according to the tabloid it is likely Cole will have to sit out at least one set of auditions, may be more, as a result of her enforced sick leave. Fellow judge Simon Cowell mocked the Girl Aloud for being tired at an X audition last week, telling the audience Cole was suffering from "a disease going around called 'hangover'", adding that she might be "sulky" as a result.
Edward Grimes injured his leg yesterday while performing at the T4 On The Beach mini-festival in Weston-Super-Mare. After bouncing around shouting out the lyrics of 'Ghostbusters' and 'Under Pressure', the Jedward twin fell awkwardly and seemingly did some serious ligament damage (some reports go as far as to say he broke his leg). Despite clearly being in some pain, ever the show man, Edward got up and carried on. Well, when there's a Blink 182 song to be destroyed, duty calls.
Noticing his brother's pain John Grimes shouted out, "You've hurt your leg - are you alright man?" His twin responded, "I'm cool", though his pained face said otherwise. Fans of twins tunelessly shouting out the words of other people's songs and/or fans of pop stars carrying on despite clearly being in agony, should enjoy the video below. If you fall solely in the latter camp, you might want to skip to two minutes five seconds in. Meanwhile, here's wishing Edward a speedy recover.
